I’m sure you’ve heard the term before— girl’s girl.
A girl’s girl is one who compliments your outfit and actually means it. Who will tell you if there’s an eyelash on your cheek, or if the clasp of your necklace is showing, or if there’s toilet paper stuck to your shoe. The girl’s girl will tell you exactly where their shirt is from after you tell them you like it. They will even send you the link— unprompted.
If you’re going through something they’ve already been through, they are there with advice and tips if you’re open to it. They don’t gatekeep. In fact, they do the complete opposite. Anything you ever want to know—TMI or not—they are ready to share if it helps. Genuinely kind, genuinely helpful, and genuinely invested in the success of all the girls and femmes they know.
Okay, we get it, but why Girl’s Girl? In April I took a trip to Florida for my bachelorette with some of my closest friends. On the last night of the trip, as we ate burgers and shared loaded fries, my friends went around the table and shared what they loved most about me (this was completely unprompted but made me feel so nice— do this for your friends). They claimed I was a girl’s girl. ðŸ˜
Being bestowed the title of girl’s girl is not something I take lightly. And as I was contemplating what I wanted this newsletter to transform into, I realized that— at its core— all of this internet stuff I’ve been doing since 2014 has really just been me supporting the girls I know and the ones I don’t.
I live for feminine friendship. Sleepovers and playing Barbies and watching nostalgic 2000s rom-coms over and over and over. Y2K and beaded bracelets and butterfly clips. Stickers and gel pens. Taking photos, journaling, and documenting all the memories. The magic we experienced growing up? I need more of that, and we’re creating it here.
Girl’s Girl is going to be more of the same things I’ve always shared— but through a bit of a different lens. Links, advice, random sh*t I find on the internet, journal spreads and ideas, books/shows/movie recommendations, and my favorite female-owned businesses. Celebrating girlhood, navigating womanhood, and, of course, taking you along for the ride that is ~my life~
I love this!! So excited for more🩵🩵
